Treatment Planning
Treatment planning is an essential element in achieving successful restorations. To help even the most difficult case achieve a successful outcome, the following guidelines are suggested:
Study Models and Diagnostic Wax-Ups
For complex dental cases, study models and diagnostic wax-ups provide valuable insights and help plan effective treatment.
- Study Models: Impressions of the teeth, along with bite registration, allow us to assess factors not visible clinically. They reveal tooth movement, its impact on surrounding teeth, and other key considerations. Accurate models are essential for designing fixed or removable restorations like bridges and crowns.
- Diagnostic Wax-Ups: These models help visualize potential changes to the shape and alignment of teeth. Using white wax, the wax-up shows a three-dimensional “after” view of the proposed treatment, compared to the original study model. Wax-ups can be modified until the desired outcome is achieved, ensuring an approved treatment plan before proceeding.
Make a Good Impression
A proper impression is essential for a successful restoration. Select the right tray for your case (triple tray, stock tray, or custom tray). If you need assistance, contact our customer service team.
Check out the following PDF guides for more information:
Submit a Proper Bite Registration
- A good bite registration is critical for accurate restorations.
- Use minimal material between opposing teeth for better accuracy.
- Avoid rubbery impression materials, which can complicate mounting.
- Ensure opposing casts are free of bubbles or missed areas to prevent occlusal issues.
Provide the Correct Shade
Photos with shade guides near the patient’s teeth improve accuracy. Patients can visit our lab for shade-taking services, including digital photos, shade mapping, and custom staining.

Complete Your Prescription Carefully
Fill out prescriptions clearly and completely, including tooth numbers, alloys, designs, shades, and other details. Include your license number and signature to ensure accuracy.
Address Fit Issues Early
- Temporary restorations must fit properly to prevent complications:
- Loose contacts can lead to tight final contacts requiring adjustments.
- Tight contacts can cause open contacts, requiring additional appointments.
- Loose occlusion can lead to tooth eruption and fit issues.
- For complex cases, consider a try-in before final completion to ensure accuracy.
