Digital Impression Protocols and Immediate Provisionalization in the Aesthetic Zone: From Treatment Planning to Patient-Specific CAD/CAM Abutments

Event Description:
This program integrates immediate provisional restoration principles in the aesthetic zone with a simplified digital impression protocol for fabricating patient-specific CAD/CAM abutments.

Participants will review case selection, loading concepts, soft tissue management, and impression techniques using intraoral scanning or conventional methods. Emphasis is placed on CAD/CAM abutment design, laboratory communication, and streamlined digital workflows that enhance precision, efficiency, and patient comfort while supporting predictable aesthetic implant outcomes.

Learning Objectives:
At the completion of the program, participants should be able to:

• Evaluate clinical data for treatment planning single-tooth implants in the aesthetic zone
• Differentiate between stock, custom, Ti-Base, and CAD/CAM abutments
• Distinguish immediate loading from immediate non-occlusal loading
• Apply a simplified digital or conventional impression protocol
• Design patient-specific CAD/CAM abutments using a digital workflow
• Fabricate provisional restorations that support peri-implant soft tissue architecture
• Improve clinician-laboratory collaboration for predictable outcomes

Wayne Szara is a Clinical Education Manager with ZimVie Dental and a CDT with over 35 years of experience in the dental industry. A graduate of Triton College and Southern Illinois University, he holds degrees in dental technology and vocational education.

Wayne has extensive experience in laboratory procedures and is known for presenting complex concepts in a clear and engaging way. For over 22 years, he has led seminars across North America and internationally, covering implants and implant prosthetics for oral surgeons, periodontists, general dentists, denturists, dental technicians, and patients.

He is a published author with articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been recognized by the military for his contributions to professional development programs. He has also worked with Sterngold and 3M ESPE.
